AWID is an emerging design studio driven to create residential interiors with materiality + soul, and ultimately provide timeless sanctuary spaces. A serial homebody, Amelda emphasises with interior spaces being the nucleus to ourselves, and therefore, the interior proposals must evoke the core functional and atmospheric qualities identified in the project briefing. The design approach beings with understanding these qualities, and the project needs rather than emulating an existing project.
AWID is passionate about the preservation and exploitation of natural imperfection, evidence and scars of hand crafting and aged materials unfeasible to be manufactured. Colour, light and proportion moves people, and combined with the right balance of complementing + contrasting, the design intent is amplified and manifested.
With formal education in Architecture + Construction Management, Amelda is able to design project solutions that are balanced with romantic design narratives with pragmatic and feasible design solutions.
AWID collaborates with multi-discipline trades and artisans to develop custom + unique details for projects; including lighting, furniture, hardware, upholstery and joinery.
From micro-experiences, to the grand design intent, the studio ambition is deliver solutions with considered detailing + feeling.
